VOLUNTEER FAQs

Do I need to sign-up?

There is no need to sign up! (Unless you have a group of 4 or more). Individuals are encouraged to review the Rules and Responsibilities and then stop by whenever they are free, no paperwork or sign-up required.
If you feel more comfortable scheduling a time, feel free to email us.

Can I bring a group?

To ensure each group member has a meaningful experience and that staff are not overwhelmed, we ask that all groups with four or more people to schedule with us at least two weeks in advance.

Please email Volunteers@LaramieSoupKitchen.org for more information.

May I bring my children?

Yes! Children between the ages of 9 and 14 must be accompanied by an adult, while teens over 14 years of age may volunteer on their own.

If you plan to bring multiple children, please have one adult present for every two children.

We also recommend shorter shifts for children between 9 and 14 (about 1 hour), as we have noticed that they tend to lose interest after that time.

I don’t have all day, but want to help. Can I come for part of the day?

YES! We prefer volunteers stay for at least two hours, but understanding how demanding everyone's schedule can be, we are open to shorter shifts too.

I’ve never done this before – what should I bring?

For your safety, closed-toed shoes are mandatory. If you have long hair plan to tie it back or bring a hat/bandanna. Everything else will be provided, but know a willingness to learn and help wherever needed is always appreciated.
More information about how to prepare to volunteer can be found
under Rules and Responsibilities.

Where do I go?

The Laramie Soup Kitchen is located on the corner of 3rd and University, in the lower level of St. Matthew's Episcopal Cathedral. Enter the parking lot north of the church and go down the stairs or the ramp.

Where should I park?

Volunteers can park in the parking lot north of the church, but please avoid parking in any spaces designated for the church, Soup Kitchen staff, or those with disabilities. Street parking and a public lot at the corner of 4th & University are also great options.
